I enjoy learning about others and telling others about myself. As a lover of Psychology and open communication, I believe that knowing more about an individual allows you to understand them more, along with knowing how to communicate with them as well.
So here’s a little more about me, The Fab Diva on a Dime aka Erica! 🙂
I’m the youngest child, the total package that comes along with being a little sister. With an older brother and older sisters, I absolutely love being the baby! My big sister/best friend Ash is the biggest culprit in making me earn the “Baby” title no matter how much of a brat she calls me. Every time I go home, she spoils me with all of the goodies she’s collected since I’ve been gone and then proceeds to call me a Brat! 😛
I hate my food to be mixed/touching before it hits my plate! I am so serious about this. I’m very anal about plating my food properly so it’s close, but not TOO close. Yes there are certain meals that can actually mix a bit and I can still enjoy! Hispanic & Asian cuisine, and Mashed Potatoes w/ Chicken and Gravy. Dassit. Spaghetti? Don’t you dare think of mixing the sauce with the noodles before it touches my plate! I won’t dare eat it, try me
I could live off of Smoothies, Sweet & Hot Beef Jerky, BBQ Pork Rinds and steamed rice/teriyaki veggies. Not a balanced diet, but eh.
I absolutely love public speaking and the stage! A thespian since I was about 7 years old, after performing once, I found myself hooked. Since that age, I have hosted/spoken at about 25+ events and performed in over 20 and I still haven’t grown tired despite it being so long since I’ve done anything close. The rush I get teaching something new to others, singing, or strutting down the pageant runway is exhilarating! With public speaking being the #1 greatest fear of Americans (Death is #5 … 5!!) I like to think I’m in good company!
Everyone knows my favorite color is PINK but yellow is my 2nd and depending on what day you ask me, I may have a third and fourth fave as well!
I didn’t get a license until I was 25. Yes, twenty five. My dad taught us all to drive in our family truck when we were like 7 years old but it didn’t seem to stick. I suffer from Anxiety and at some point, I became fearful and lazy about the whole idea. I didn’t have a car and didn’t expect one on my 16th birthday so I “let it go.” Obviously life was insane while car-less in college! Luckily I have some amazinggg friends who let me tag along or always helped me get where I needed to go because I always kept a job and was ALWAYS involved in college! When I split from my longterm relationship and was in a city where I didn’t know anyone, I knew it was beyond time to get it together. I knew how to drive, just no license. So with some help from my dad, I bought my beloved VW Cabrio Convertible and named her “Skipper” after my dad since he was the only one who thought she was as beautiful as I did. …and THEN I got a license a week later. 😉
I’ve always loved changing my looks. If you dig deeeeep into my Facebook, you’ll see me looking like a tomboy, different colored hair, pageant girl, outlandish outfits and professional outfits. I’ve always worn what feels right for me and that definitely started as a child, as my mom and sister always talk about how I would come out of the room 10 different times in 10 different outfits in 10 minutes!! …all with the same white cowgirl boots on LOL (My sister is rotten and likes to sing “These boots are made for walking” at least once a year)
I can’t bake cookies or make pancakes!!! …at least not in a pretty manner. I love for my food to look nice and perfect if I can help it. My mom (if you’re reading this, I love you!) can’t bake ya’ll. Not sweets at least. She’s going to kill me for writing that so if you don’t hear from me, you know where to look. But I can’t bake either lol We both can make a cake or a pie if it’s required, but we pretty much avoid them. Neither of us really like sweets and when we cook, we barely measure so I don’t think that’s a good thing in baking! We’ll just stick with buying our baked goods 🙂
I am the biggest Backstreet Boys fan, ever. Like, ever. I have a handful of artists who can never do wrong in my eyes (Bey, Celine, Shania, Mariah, Boyz II Men, etc) but BSB takes the cake. My cousin Carmen and I listened to them religiously as kids on the way to school and we’re STILL fanatics. I remember Christmas maybe 1999 or 2000, all I wanted were BSB tickets. My mom and sister got me up early and gave me a clothing gift box, I’m thinking, “UGH! Clothes?!” Inside was a BSB t-shirt with tickets to the concert wrapped inside of it. HOW EPIC?! To make it even better, my Dad (an educator) somehow got a bunch of tickets for his students and of course, grabbed 2 for us! I remember that the band had a circle lifted from the ground that they performed on at certain times and my Dad was sitting right next to it the first night. This wonderful man took a stack of his business cards and threw them at AJ McClean that said “Ask for Erica!” written on them! LOL Who else is lucky enough to have a family so caring?!
My hair has grown so long that when I’m attempting to be nosey or eavesdrop on a conversation, I have to pull my hair behind my ears to hear clearly. So if you see me frantically pulling my hair behind both ears, I’m trying to listen to your conversation 🙂 HA!
Now, tell me more about you 🙂
This was such a fun read, great getting to know a bit about you. Can you share some of your excitement for public speaking with me?
