I adore a great smoothie, anytime of the day! I remember that a smoothie recipe was the first I’d ever executed as a young wannabe-chef. No, not very difficult task, but this recipe grew to become a favorite of one of my favorite people, my Grandpa. I remember going to my grandparents’ house and always making my poppy a smoothie with frozen berries, bananas, orange juice and crushed ice. I just KNEW I was a chef! Lol!
The great thing about Smoothies is, they’re quick and easy to make, portable and GREAT for you! There are so many varieties for everyone. Whether you’re looking to gain, lose, tone or just enjoy a refreshing drink, a smoothie could be your best bet.
When I travel from land to land, spreading the good word of the smoothie groupies, it’s easy to hype them up because the nutrients speak for themselves. So many people give the tiredddd excuse of, “I don’t have enough time!”
SNAP OUT OF IT!
Now, smoothies aren’t some magical weight loss pill, they may not change your world overnight, but they are a STEP in a great direction. So many working people lament meal prepping, completely bypassing the fact that meal prepping is an act to SAVE TIME AND MONEY! You can’t lose, you just need to prepare!
I love meal prepping but I won’t lie, you’ll catch me with more prepped smoothies than meals sometimes! With less than 15 min prep, these are easy to toss in the freezer and forget about ’em until you’re ready! I often throw in steel-cut oats to thicken up my smoothie, making it into its own meal replacement!

To Prepare
- Chop, dice and slice your veggies/fruit
- Rinse and blot dry leafy greens
- Bag with leafy greens on bottom in secure ziploc bag; Toss in the freezer!
- When ready to use, add in Coconut Water, Orange Juice or Almond Milk (my personal faves!) When using Steel-Cut Oats, I toss them in on top prior to blending.
Prefer to freeze each fruit individually?? I love to peel 4-5 bananas, place them in a freezer bag, and slice them into thirds right in the bag. No mush! Tossing a bunch of strawberries, blueberries and apples are even easier!
The frozen fruit leaves each smoothie with a creamy texture that’s to die for!

Girl, I’ve been trying to jump on board with these smoothies! I like the idea of preparing the bags in advance and throwing them in the freezer. That will save me so much time in the mornings because I am NOT a morning person!!!!
Me either!! Prepping these smoothies has saved my mornings! My freezer is stocked for a MONTH!! Let me know how great they turn out!!
